Death of Maestro Tommy Tycho

AUSTRALIAN showbusiness has lost one of it's most supreme talents with the death of Maestro Tommy Tycho, aged 84, in Sydney this morning - just a week before his 85th birthday. The well respected and much loved pianist, conductor, composer and arranger died of complications associated with pneumonia.

A child prodigy who played piano with the Budapest Philharmonic orchestra at the age of 10, Tommy moved to Australia in 1951 and began to build a new life for himself and Hungarian wife Eve doing what he did best - music.

Scheduled to appear at this year's event are former `Laugh-in' star Chelsea Brown, Venetta Field from John Farnham band, Hey Hey It's Saturday's Shane Bourne, Queensland Entertainer of the Year Greg Doolan, country music legends Reg Lindsay and John McSweeney, Syd `Cookie' Heylen from À Country Practice', Vic Rooney from E Street, Variety Today's Shirley Broun and many more.

Andre scores hat trick at Coca-Cola Music Awards 1994

PETER ANDRE'S Gold Coast-based family cried tears of joy as the successful recording artist scored his third big win at the 1993 Coca Cola Music Awards, held at Dreamworld recently.

While Peter, who began his professional career after winning New Faces just two years ago, was unable to attend due to his commitment as support act to Madonna in Melbourne, his parents, brothers Michael and Danny, and sister Debbie were among the thousands who attended the major music industry event.
