Sophie shines in new film role

SINGING and dancing come naturally to young Daisy Hills (Brisbane) performer Sophie Moman, 9, who last year played one of the orphans in the hit musical Annie at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Lyric Theatre in Brisbane.

ELLIE Matzer is a talented 12-year-old with a passion for dance. Already she is turning heads in the competitive world of performing arts successfully auditioning for the elite RGDance in Melbourne.

The ultimate achiever

NADINE Chia is the ultimate achiever. In the recent Star Bound Entertainer’s Festival Eisteddfod at Nerang on the Queensland Gold Coast she achieved the `perfect score’ – six placings from six events entered.

The 11-year-old scored a first in Classical Ballet, second in drama 12yrs and under, lyrical modern solo dance and musical theatre, a third in tap solo and highly commended for popular solo in jazz.

Star Bound Eisteddfod – Giving birth

The show must go on

WHEN Pam Taylor launched the Star Bound Entertainers Festival Eisteddfod with sister Julie Jobson this year it was like giving birth all over again … literally!

“Twelve years ago I was at the Spotlight Entertainers Festival which our eisteddfod now replaces to support my daughter Kerene and I was heavily pregnant,” Pam explained.

“While she was performing my waters broke so I drove home, walked in the door and told my husband that I was home on a dancing school night (should have been at the eisteddfod), Kerene was still dancing, I was going to have a shower and then go to the hospital.”

“My second daughter Brittney, now 12, was born an hour later,” said Pam.

Star Bound Eisteddfod – Jack Watson

Off to Disneyland

JACK Watson is set to go from the Star Bound Entertainers Festival Eisteddfod at Nerang to the big stage of the world renowned tourist mecca Disneyland.

The young vocalist will be among the Young Talent Time School team of 15 young performers who are booked for three days of shows at Disneyland in June. Jack has several solo spots in the program.

THE beat of their father’s drum may not have inspired Sherene, 12 and Miranda Coyle, 10 to learn music but it could well have influenced their love for dance.

According to their mother , Chris Coyle, the girls started beginners classes when they were about four or five but only began competing in eisteddfods this year.

THE life of a dancing school mum can be hectic … even chaotic at times but ask most of them and they will tell you it is all worth it to see their children with big smiles and doing what they love to do.

Just trying to talk to some of the mothers backstage at the Star Bound Eisteddfod while they prepared their children aged from 4 to 17 for their big moment on stage presented a huge challenge.

THE First Annual Star Bound Entertainer Festival Eisteddfod has showcased some of South Queensland’s finest young performers, a representation of which will be featured in the On With the Show Membership Site during the coming weeks together with photographs.

In the meantime tonight, from 6.30pm, the championship winners, special award winners, participating studio groups and outstanding routines seen throughout the competition will feature in a special Star Bound Variety Concert .
