Flashback to Variety Today 1994

I MUST admit, when Tim McGraw's latest album `Not A Moment Too Soon' arrived on my doorstep, I was apprehensive about just what it would sound like ... not being familiar with his music. But this talented man, voted `Most Likely to Succeed' and one of the 12 best singers of 1993 by Country American Magazine, won me over from the first track.

In fact, I don't think I have taken it off the CD player (which holds five of my favourites at one time) since receiving it a few months ago.

Tim McGraw, who I have since seen featured on The Today Show, has exploded on to the US Country Music scene with a vengeance ... and I can understand why. His recent smash single `Indian Outlaw' - which is also featured on the album - ended up hitting number 15 on the Billboard pop charts and hitting number one on the country charts.

Now his album `Not a Moment Too Soon' is taking the country by storm. It reached number one on both the Billboard Country Charts (where it stayed for several weeks) and also the Pop charts, proving his music appeals to all ages and music tastes.

If you have never heard Tim sing, this album - which went platinum - is a wonderful introduction. Film clips of tracks such as Indian Outlaw have already been seen on Australian television, including the premiere episode of the new country music clip program on ABC called `Stamped', and also on country music radio programs throughout Australia.

The album is easy-listening, lyrically inspiring and personally appealing. There seems to be something for everyone.

This latest release follows his debut album, self titled ` Tim McGraw' . Look for `Not a Moment Too Soon' in your local ABC Music Store.

2013 UPDATE

SINCE 1994 Tim McGraw, born May 1, 1967 at Delhi, Louisiana, USA, has soared to great heights both with his music and as an actor. Many of McGraw's albums and singles have topped the country music charts with total album sales in excess of 40 million units in the US, making him the eighth best-selling artist, and the third best-selling country singer, in the Soundscan era. He is married to country singer Faith Hill and is the son of the late baseball player Tug McGraw.

McGraw had 11 consecutive albums debut at Number One on the Billboard albums charts. Twenty-one singles hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. He has won three Grammys, 14 Academy of Country Music awards, 11 Country Music Association (CMA) awards, 10 American Music Awards, and three People's Choice Awards. His Soul2Soul II Tour with Faith Hill is the highest grossing tour in country music history, and one of the top five among all genres of music.

McGraw has ventured into acting, with supporting roles in The Blind Side (with Sandra Bullock), Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom, and Four Christmases (with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon), and lead roles in Flicka (2006) and Country Strong (2010).

Two Lanes of Freedom

In December 2011, McGraw released his first Christmas single, `Christmas All Over the World', on his own label StyleSonic Records. On May 21, 2012, however, he signed with Big Machine Records.  McGraw's debut album for Big Machine, entitled Two Lanes of Freedom, was released on February 5, 2013.  The album includes the singles `Truck Yeah'  and `One of Those Nights'. McGraw has been confirmed to perform at the Country to Country (C2C) festival in London on March 16, 2013.
