Smith & Western create musical Wonderland
THE debut of TEN’s new drama Wonderland on August 21 has not only introduced an exciting new television series to our screens but also provided a catchy new theme song, currently available to fans for free download from the Wonderland Facebook page.
Sydney collective Smith & Western released the theme song ‘(Come On) Come Inside’ ahead of its network debut. The collective consists of some of Australia’s finest songwriters including Ant Smith (Salmonella Dub), Nick West (Shades of Gray), Dan Higson (Matt Bianco), Amanda Brown (The Go-Betweens) and features the vocals of up and coming singer/songwriter Mike Paxton.
Paxton was found by the collective after an exhaustive process to find just the right voice for the project using social media and music sites, tapping into a world of amazing, but unknown musicians.
“It was a really fun process to write with so many great people and we’re really stoked at how the song came about through such a collaborative and creative process,” said Nick West. “(Come On) Come Inside is about capturing the inviting sound of life in coastal Australia. Wonderland really recreates that essence too, so it was a perfect marriage for the song.”
In the tradition of great tracks broken from TV including Jason Mraz (I’m Yours) and The Rembrandts (I’ll Be There For You), the track is attracting great radio airplay throughout the nation.
Wonderland features familiar faces including Brooke Satchwell (Packed to the Rafters, Neighbours), Michael Dorman (Wild Boys, The Secret Life of Us), Jessica Tovey (Paper Giants, Home & Away) and Emma Lung (The Straits, Entourage).
Wonderland, which is a Fremantle Media Australia (FMA) production for TEN, was created by FMA’s Director of Drama Jo Porter and Wonderland’s Script Producer Sarah Walker. ‘(Come On) Come Inside’ is also available on iTunes.Tweet
