Latest release ends eight-year recording hiatus

FANS of the indie folk-pop duo Women in Docs are anxiously awaiting the February 7 release of their latest album.

After an eight-year hiatus from the recording studio the talented duo consisting of Chanel Lucas and Roz Pappalardo has returned with a host of infectious new tunes and fresh enthusiasm.
When On with the Show’s Shirley Broun spoke to Chanel late last year the pair were busy organising a string of tour dates, the first since they had taken some time off for a well-earned break.

Although they were officially `resting’ Chanel and Roz couldn’t help but continue their music writing. Without the pressures of touring they were able to spend quality time on their passion of writing songs. And from February 7, 2014, their many supporters will be able to experience the result for themselves.

The release of Carousel, the title track and first single from the album, late last year proved an effective lead up to the 10-track album. It was followed by a whirlwind tour and a re-release of Tin Roof on iTunes just before Christmas.

“We found the writing of the single Carousel came so easily, so releasing a whole album of songs seemed like the obvious thing to do,” said Roz. “It also seemed a great way to get back into touring and doing what we love best which is live performances. We love the live gig, the immediate interaction with the audience and the unexpected nature of it.”

Chanel and Roz also enjoyed the challenges of distance which arose due to album participants including band members living in different regions of the state.

“Roz and I have been writing songs when we get together – back stage at gigs, in rehearsal rooms, on planes and in the car on the way to gigs. We have even shared files via Skype and Dropbox – it really is an album created via modern technology and we think it is out best yet!”

The self-funded album was recorded and engineered by Marly Luske at Achemix and mixed by Anthony Lycenko courtesy of Haaf Records. It was mastered by Paul Blakey for 12th & Vine.
Women in Docs new full-length album, Carousel, will be out on February 7, 2014, through Plus One Records.
