Merry Christmas from On With the Show

A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

By On With the Show's Shirley Broun

IT IS Christmas Eve here in Australia and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful, inspiring, prosperous and exciting 2019 New Year.

Christmas is a very special time of year for many millions of people across the world whether a time of excitement at what Santa might leave under the Christmas tree or in a stocking for the young and young-at-heart or the chance for families to sway from their daily routines and spend quality, happy hours with loved ones.

Even the extraordinarily talented members of the Showbiz family look forward to sharing this special day with their families which is very rare for they are normally the ones entertaining the masses at special events, days and occasions throughout the year.

But at Christmas it is different.

SPECIAL TIME FOR FAMILY

I was speaking with my dear friend of many years Australia's Queen of Yodelling Mary Schneider who was looking forward to spending this Christmas with her beautiful and talented daughter Melinda Schneider, son-in-law Mark Gable (The Choirboys founder) and six-year-old grandson Sullivan.

Mary Schneider - spending Christmas with family.

At 86, Mary says she just loves to spend Christmas with Melinda and her family whom she adores, especially young Sullivan who is the apple of her eye.

"Melinda is a great cook too and I don't have to do anything," she said.

"Christmas is a great time to get together because I don't see Melinda as much as I used too. She is so busy these days as a performer and a mum."

Mary is so proud of her daughter who, on December 13 and 14, featured in the brilliant `Hear Me Roar' production - a musical tribute to female empowerment - at the Sydney Opera House with a powerful line-up of top Aussie female singers.

"I wish you could have been there Shirley. Melinda was with five other top female artists, packed houses each night. I was so very proud of her," said Mary glowingly.

There is one thing for sure ... with such a talented family there is certain to be a music-filled Christmas at the Schneider/Gable home this year.

INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS

Meanwhile we can't forget the many Aussies who have enjoyed international success such as the highly respected and talented boys from Human Nature.

Human Nature

The Las Vegas resident performers at the Venetian have, for the first time in a few years, been wowing audiences with their special Christmas Show.

"It feels great creatively to change up the show, and we get to perform some hugely fun Christmas songs," said the group who include Toby Allen, Phil Burton, Andrew and Mike Tierney.

Human Nature will be taking a well-earned break over the Christmas/New Year period before returning to the Venetian on January 15, 2019.

The boys are also looking forward to their upcoming Aussie tour in April-May next year saying: "Can't believe it is celebrating 30 years of Human Nature but we are planning some really special things for the tour."
