ENTERTAINERS came out in force to raise money for the Handicapped Children's Centre of New South Wales when St George Leagues Club hosted the `Stars on Sunday'.

Backed by the terrific sound of Jupiter and The Rocky Thomas Band, some of Australia's top performers took to the stage.

They included Lucky Starr, Jane Scali with `Teamwork', Eddie Youngblood, Marty Morton, Seamus Earley, William Mafi and Paradise, Mark Williams, Frank Newall, Triple Treat, Marjorie Moon, Stairway to the Stars, Bobby Dennis, Igor Cavdarski, Chris Castle and Latin American Dance Co.

Special appearances were made by Olympic figure skaters Danielle and Stephen Carr, and John Worthington, of The Home Show.

More than 700 people attended the star-studded event, boosting the total raised for the Handicapped Children's Centre to almost $10,000.

In addition to the great entertainment, 28 prizes were up for grabs in the many raffles on the day, with the first prize a trip by Eastern Airlines to Nautilus Resorts, Coffs Harbour.

The day was also supported by fellow performers such as Paul Martell, Mary Schneider, Kylie Jeacle, members of the Australian Ladies Variety Association and the Variety Club.

"The show was definitely variety plus with so much happening during the four hour show," said organiser Sharon Kermond Peridis.

The `Stars on Sunday' show was initiated six years ago to raise money for Sharon's son, Jonathan's handicapped school which was badly in need of funds. It has since become one of their major fundraisers of which Sharon and her co-organiser Cheryl, are extremely proud.
