TASMANIAN-born star of television series The Mentalist Simon Baker, 43, has joined the growing list of Aussie actors to be honoured with his own `Star' on the famous Walk of Fame in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
In an emotional speech at the ceremony, held outside Beso Restaurant, owned by Desperate Housewife's Eva Longoria, yesterday (USA time) an emotional Baker spoke of his wife Rebecca Rigg and his children Stella Breeze, Claude Blue and Harry Friday.
"This is for you kids," he said. "My cup runneth over."
The Emmy-nominated star of the CBS crime drama "The Mentalist" who has also appeared in such films as `L.A. Confidential' and `The Devil Wears Prada' now lays claim to the 2490th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, following in the recent footsteps of fellow Aussie actor Hugh Jackman in December, 2012.
This latest recognition is a triumph for Baker who started his career appearing in music video clips for Melissa Tkautz (`Read My Lips') and Australian dance outfit Euphoria (`Love You Right') in 1991 before appearing in the successful series E Street, Home and Away and Heartbreak High.
In 2008, Baker received the lead role of Patrick Jane, a consultant to the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in CBS's The Mentalist which is currently screening across Australia.
