Keating and McFadden
SPIED X Factor judge Ronan Keating and former Australia's Got Talent judge Brian McFadden at Jupiter's Casino on the Queensland Gold Coast this week where the multi-talented duo were performing for one night only.
It was one of those `chance meetings' where I turned the corner towards the lifts and ran slap bang into Ronan and his expansive entourage who appeared to be in somewhat of a dilemma over whether to jump into the lifts or proceed in another direction. It was a situation that lasted for quite some time with what seemed to be a cast of thousands (perhaps a slight exaggeration) pacing backwards and forwards in front of the lifts looking for someone to show them the way.
As an onlooker I could only guess the plot of this `melodrama by the lifts' but I'm guessing Ronan was trying to sort it out via a mobile phone link to someone who may have had all the answers.
In the meantime, I was looking somewhat like a `groupie' while I stood there for a very long period as lifts came and went waiting for my room mate to collect me. She had the only key. Ronan looked over to me - he was still on the phone - saw me standing there looking right at him and smiled with polite acknowledgement just as Brian McFadden arrived on the scene from behind me. I recognised the voice, the gentle Irish accent and enthusiastic tone as Brian swept passed me just a hair's breath away.
Just as I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable about my `long wait' at the lifts, the doors opened and there stood my friend. I jumped in - escape at last - only to see my friend jump out to see what all the commotion was about, spied the famous duo and stayed there. The lift doors closed and I was stuck between the Casino and Lobby levels because without a key the other floors were inaccessible. Happy to report, on my second trip down to the casino level, I hooked up with my friend again and all was fine. But it doesn't end there...
A few hours later we were alighting from another lift in the building and ran straight into Brian McFadden and his mother ... `G'day' I said with a giggle and kept walking!
