Lap of luxury at The Darling

TRAVEL REVIEW:

THE DARLING, GOLD COAST

Date: JULY,  2018

By SHIRLEY BROUN

A FEELING of wanting to indulge and spoil myself and live in the lap of luxury for a night inspired me to take up an opportunity to experience The Darling, the Star Gold Coast’s latest luxury accommodation venue.

When the TV Week Logies were held at The Star for the first time this year, I noticed many of the celebrities had also booked at The Darling and after my brief one-night stay, I can understand why.

Right from the moment I pulled up at the entrance, the level of service on offer was made most apparent. My luggage was quickly secured and I was ushered through the doors and into the lavish foyer and reception area.

Gone are the reception desks where patrons queue for service. These have been replaced with luxury seating and individual staff members who prioritise your booking and your every need.

We were even escorted to the escalators which take you directly to your floor of choice with no need to try swiping your key card in a crowded lift which has set me many a challenge in past multi-level accommodation venues.

Then it was onto our room and an explanation of what is `complementary’ and what is not and let me tell you … you will be surprised and delighted with what is provided for free.

Our eyes lit up with unequivocal joy on beholding the room for the first time.

We were treated to the Jewel Twin Suite which incorporated modern conveniences and elegant décor that successfully immersed us in our own private world of luxury.

The room was spacious and inviting and beautifully fitted out to ensure guests wanted for nothing … bathrobes from Italy’s Frette and Nespresso’s newest model coffee machine Creatista, plus so much more.

Features throughout the room were available at the touch of a button providing guests with optimum control of everything from room temperature and lighting levels to window drapes.

Chilled or boiling water were available on a Zip Tap system and the spacious bathroom was outfitted with a deep bath, huge shower, his and her basins and views that showed off the Gold Coast in its most splendid of vistas.

To complement the exquisite accommodation on offer, The Darling also offers endless opportunities to dine, dance and enjoy everything that goes with a stay at one of the The Star’s major venues.

The Nineteenth Floor of The Darling boasted both a magnificent restaurant and an amazing swimming pool, open only to guests, which has to be seen to be believed. We found it to be a great place to socialise and have a `catch up’ chat while enjoying our favourite cocktails.

While the Gold Coast was experiencing some of its coldest winter nights for some time, the luxury and warmth continued at The Darling where the beds and Frette bedding ensured an uninterrupted evening of peace and tranquillity … one we will remember for a long time to come.
