A week dreams are made of for Hugh
It's Hugh Jackman Day
By SHIRLEY BROUN
Hugh Jackman fell to his knees as a new star was born on Hollywood's famous Walk of Fame ... a star bearing the name of Australia's world-wide success story and much loved actor/entertainer.
Hugh was on his knees to be closer to the new `Star' in his life which was set in stone at his feet.
"I always wanted to come over and see the stars on the Walk of Fame but never imagined I'd be one of them," said Jackman.
In a heartfelt address, Jackman thanked his many industry colleagues who he credited with helping his career along the way including Cameron Mackintosh and director Tom Hooper. And fellow Les Miserable stars and a host of other industry stalwarts also joined in to witness Hugh's `star event'. His `star' is the 2487th on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
"When I first came to Hollywood 15 years ago I didn't know what to look for ... so my philosophy was, if they seemed like good blokes I went with them and I `lucked out'," he said. "I also have the greatest fans who I want to thank for giving me such wonderful support."
"None of this would be possible if not for my family. I wanted them to be with me today. They have made so many sacrifices to allow me to do what I do. I am so grateful for everything in my life and for the great support I have received ... it is so surreal," said Jackman, with the smile that has won the hearts of millions around the globe.
The star on the Walk of Fame is the pinnacle of a big week for Jackman who has also received a Golden Globe Best Actor nomination for his role in Les Miserables. Jackman is due to return to Australia again next week.
