Top Aussie talent on stage
in addictive romantic comedy
DARLINGHURST Theatre Company presents a high-octane verbal cage match about love, fidelity and a misplaced hat. The Tony Award-winning Broadway hit The Motherf**ker with the Hat plays from September 24 to October 19 at Eternity Playhouse.
Things are looking up for recovering alcoholic and ex-con Jackie and his girlfriend Veronica, until Jackie spots another man’s hat in their apartment. Anti-hero Jackie stumbles and bumbles his way through plans of revenge, through love, and towards redemption.
Fast-paced and uproarious, The Motherf**ker with the Hat is a romantic comedy of the gritty and fouled-mouthed kind and a gleeful look at modern love and other addictions.
Workhorse Theatre Company’s fiery production boasts a cast of top young Australian talent, including John Atkinson (Home and Away, McLeod’s Daughters), Troy Harrison (The Boy from Oz, Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Megan O'Connell (Much Ado About Nothing, Three Sisters), Zoe Trilsbach (Saturday Night Fever, That Pretty Pretty or The Rape Play) and Nigel Turner-Carroll (Skylight, Gallipoli).
Renowned theatre director Adam Cook is excited to revisit this work, after directing a sold out 2013 season. “We had great success with this production last year in the intimate environs of the Tap Gallery, and I am so excited that we’ll have the opportunity to share this story with a much bigger audience at Eternity Playhouse. I can promise you it’s going to be fast-paced, full-blooded and very, very funny.”
The Motherf**ker with the Hat will hold previews from September 19 to 21 before beginning its September 24 to October 19 season at the Eternity Playhouse. Post show questions and answers will take place on Tuesday September 30 and Sunday October 12.
