Doc Neeson loses battle with cancer

BERNARD `Doc' Neeson, former lead singer of iconic Australian rock band The Angels, has died aged 67.

The founding member (with Rick and John Brewster) of The Angels had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2012. He died in his sleep this morning.

Neeson who had also studied film and drama after an 18 month stint with the Australian army in Papua New Guinea during the late 60s will be long remembered for his role in The Angels which spawned many hits including Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?

He was a master of hard rock, blues rock and rock ‘n’ roll.

Neeson left The Angels several times during the past 40 years but his energetic stage performance, unique vocal skills and zestful persona will always keep him close to the hearts of Angels’ fans.

Rick and John Brewster said Doc Neeson played an important part in the road to success for The Angels especially in the early years and the band would continue to acknowledge him at every performance. He will be sadly missed.
