Dale was voted Best Jazz Instrumentalist and Ricky May Jazz Performer of the Year, beating challenges from Vince Jones, James Morrison and Paul Grabowsky in both categories.

Along with Dale, only the late Stuart Challender, country star John Williamson, fabulous show group The Four Kinsmen and Phantom of the Opera's Anthony Warlow won more than one award on the night.

The awards are yet another high spot in a remarkable year for Dale. His second solo album `Hipnotation' won the ARIA award for Best Jazz Album in March. In April he signed a worldwide publishing deal with BMG Publishing that will take him to New York to record in July.

Meanwhile, his third solo album, as yet unnamed, is already in the can for release in September.

The MO Awards are also a tribute to Dale's busy touring and television schedule of the past 12 months.

Concert performances took him across Australia from Perth to Cairns with his own band or alongside Vince Jones, Tommy Emmanuel, James Morrison or Kate Ceberano.

Highlights included hugely popular jazz dance parties in Perth and Sydney, and an appearance in front of 120,000 people at Jazz In The Park in Sydney's Domain where he was Kate Ceberano's special guest.

On television he was seen on Hey Hey It's Saturday, the Vizard Show, Review, Sunday and Jazz Az Now.

One of his greatest supporters, lovely wife Alanna, sho was a professional ballet dancer when Dale first met her in New York, shared his exhilaration at winning his two latest awards.
