GOULBURN VALLEY COUNTRY FESTIVAL RESCHEDULED DUE TO COVID-19
GOULBURN VALLEY LOCAL COUNTRY SHOWCASE APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
Due to the impact of COVID-19, ongoing restrictions and border closures, the inaugural Goulburn Valley Country Festival, scheduled for this October, has been postponed to April 2022.
The Shepparton-based event will still feature the same coveted line-up, headlined by Lee Kernaghan, with special guests Brad Cox, Casey Barnes, Felicity Urquhart, Andrew Swift, The Davidson Brothers and some of the most exciting up-and-coming acts on the live scene today.
There will also be whip-cracking demonstrations and line-dancing, as well as food trucks, a smokehouse barbecue, rides, market stalls and on-site bars.
Brothers Aidan and Rhett McLaren, who are the driving force behind the Goulburn Valley Country Festival, and its sister event the Gippsland Country Music Festival, are delighted that all the artists from the original show announcement have been able to move to the new date.
Tickets purchased for the October event are valid for the new date on Sunday 10 April, 2022.
“We’re so thankful to all of the amazing artists and their teams for being so flexible regarding the date move, and overall, just being so keen to do whatever they could to get to Shepparton to make the show happen,” says Aidan.
“Ideally, we would have loved to be able to stick to the original date, but for obvious reasons, that wasn’t going to be possible. We had the option of postponing the festival to next October, but we’ve been so overwhelmed by the positive response from the Goulburn Valley community with so many people buying tickets and looking forward to the event, that we really wanted to make it happen as soon as possible.”
One of the driving forces behind moving the event into the start of 2022 was to ensure music fans could get back to seeing their favourite artists live as soon as safely possible.
“One thing we definitely know is that people are really missing seeing live music and can’t wait for live concerts to come back,” says Aidan.
“For many music lovers, including myself, this has been the longest time we’ve gone in our lives without seeing a show. For many artists, it’s been the longest they’ve ever gone in their careers without playing a show. When the live scene comes back, the positivity, excitement and energy at those first few shows is going to be something really incredible. I can’t wait to see that energy in Shepparton come April.”
Showcase applications
Something extra special for the Goulburn Valley Country Festival is the inclusion of the Goulburn Valley Local Country Showcase, which is now receiving applications.
Dubbed the ‘search to find the local country stars of tomorrow’, four winners will have the opportunity perform as part of the showcase on the day.
“We love being able to give really talented local artists the chance to perform on the same stage as some of the biggest acts in the country,” says Aidan.
“It’s also a great opportunity for them to meet the other artists and build connections that will hopefully lead to more opportunities for them.”
Musicians must be from the Goulburn Valley region. Applications are open now via the Goulburn Valley Country Festival website.
Tickets are still on sale for the rescheduled date of the Goulburn Valley Country Festival in April 2022. If ticketholders are unable to make the rescheduled date, they can contact their ticketing provider for a refund.
