TV INDUSTRY UNITES TO CELEBRATE 60TH

AWARDS AT THE STAR GOLD COAST

By SHIRLEY BROUN

THE 60th TV Week Logie Awards held for the first time at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland have been heralded as a great success and seen a new array of Australia's most popular television personalities join the ranks of Australian Logie award winners.
By the night's end 20 Logie statues had been presented for everything from most popular actress and actor to most outstanding sports coverage.

Most Popular Presenter and Gold Logie Award winner Grant Denyer

The ultimate TV Week Gold Logie was won by Family Feud host Grant Denyer who also took home the Logie for Most Popular Presenter.
His emotional acceptance speech which described his rocky journey from a place of non self-belief to his highly successful hosting role on Channel Ten's Family Feud touched the hearts of all.
Applause also erupted when Home and Away long-time favourite Ray Meagher (who plays Alf) was presented with the Most Popular Actor Logie.
There was no `flamin' way' the endearing actor would take full credit for the Logie preferring, instead, to dedicate it to fellow cast member Cornelia Frances who died on May 28 after a battle with cancer.
Special guest presenters included former Gold Logie Winner and host OF 22 Logie Awards ceremonies Bert Newton, 79 who announced the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent which went to Dilruk Jayasinha.
The Foxtel drama series Wentworth proved another big winner on the night as did Romper Stomper.
After 40 years of bringing hard-hitting stories into the living rooms of Aussies across the country, 60 Minutes entered the TV Week Hall of Fame.
The award paid tribute to Gerald Stone and his team of reporters which began with original TV journalists Ian Leslie, Ray Martin and George Negus with Jana Wendt being the first woman to join the team.
Some of Australia's favourite comedic talents kept the night rolling with Dave Hughes kicking off proceedings followed by the likes of Shane Jacobsen, Julia Morris, Shaun Micallef and Hamish & Andy, to name but a few.
On With the Show would like to congratulate all nominees and winners in this year's TV Week Logie Awards as each and everyone of you are a wonderful representation of the level of talent available here in Australia.
As a tribute to all those acknowledged in the 60th TV Week Logie Awards we would like to publish the full list of winners and nominees. These include:
