ONE of the UK's most loved exports, The Barron Knights slipped quietly into the Gold Coast recently to perform at a convention for IBM at the newly opened Royal Pines Resort.

New member Garth, who notched up his sixth performance with the popular UK group on the Coast and is on his first trip to Australia, was a little over-eager to take home a tan. He lay out by the pool at Royal Pines for two hours and returned glowing in shades of red. He realised his mistake the next morning when it hurt even to smile.

Butch tells a humorous story about a guy whose handshake left him in fits of laughter. It seems, when they shook hands the leaves of an indoor plant somehow were sandwiched within their grasp. Quick as a wink, the fellow said: "Excuse my palm won't you."

After catching up with old friend Frank Ifield on the Gold Coast, the Barron Knights began a six week Australian tour - first stop Perth.
