Flashback to Variety Today 1996

WAYNE Horsburgh is back from Nashville toting a brand new album `Yodel Antics'. Recorded on his own label, Rotation Records in Nashville, the album features 11 yodelling numbers which are certain to be a big hit with Wayne's many fans.

The tracks include one of Merle Haggard's first big hits (and Wayne's favourite song on the album) called Sing a Sad Song, along with Arizona Yodeller, there's a Rainbow in every Teardrop (previously recorded by "Slim Whitman), Oh Leo Lady (written by Ray Stevens), song of the Old Water Wheel (which Wayne has wanted to record for many years), Chime Bells, Starting Tonight, Rockonover River, North Wind, Swiss Lullaby and Aussie song High Mountain Yodel.

Wayne's Nashville-based band `Outback' played on the album together with pedal steel guitarist Doug Jernigan. The album, currently available on cassette only, can be purchased from Wayne at one of his appearances or from Mulga Music, at Tamworth.

Wayne is currently fulfilling a hectic Australian tour before returning to demanding touring commitments in the USA on May 15, which will include his return appearances at the Hodag Festival on July 12-14. While Wayne is used to travelling throughout the USA, this next trip will be notably more enjoyable as he has just purchased a new 26 ft motor home which he says will be `touring heaven' compared to what he has been used to over the years.
