MULTI-TALENTED entertainer Ross Hutchison has recently been awarded Penrith Council Citizen of the Year.

Ross Hutchison awarded Citizen of the Year in Penrith, NSW.

Described on his website as a `Man for all Reasons’, Ross’s career has seen him excel as a dancer, singer, actor, choreographer, producer, writer, raconteur, broadcaster, teacher, master of ceremonies, Justice of the Peace, Reverend Minister and `master coach’.

As part of the Australia Day honours, the entertainment icon’s outstanding contribution to his home town of Penrith over the past 50 years was recognised.

Ross established the first Performing Arts Academy in Penrith and went on to teach thousands of kids in the profession using his talents as a teacher of gymnastics and ballet. His work produced many champion performers, teachers, gymnasts and dancers who went on to perform all around the world.

His talents and achievements are too numerous to mention but his nomination as Australian of the Year in 2005 gives an indication of what he has achieved and the people he has helped along the way.

The loveable and effervescent character is an active community member who also contributes greatly through his role in Rotary, community radio and the Carer Cars organisation. He also fulfils the role of patron on many community organisations.

On a wider scale, many people will remember the entertainer, affectionately known as Rossco, for his extensive work in cabaret, film, theatre, television and radio.

Early in his career, he was a dancer and choreographer on television show Bandstand and with Benny Hill, and his expertise also saw him dance with international stars Liza Minnelli and Sammy Davis Junior, to name just two.

The performer in Ross, he admits, will never fade but today he is in greatest demand as an events manager, motivator, teacher, healer and public speaker.

I am sure Ross is someone who would have many a great story to tell.
