IT was Saturday May 9, 2014 ... the matinee show!

What better place to see a Las Vegas show than at Jupiter’s Casino on the Gold Coast?

Michael Boyd, one of Australia’s leading illusionists, has brought a high energy variety show in definite Vegas style to the lovely Jupiter’s Casino show room.

Descending the stairs to the main showroom you encounter staff dressed and acting like their Vegas counterparts. This sets the scene for the action to follow. This is a true variety show hosted by a Dean Martin style MC, with exciting magic and illusions, amazing juggling, gorgeous showgirls and guys, a live band and even Elvis! What more could you want.

David Cotter presents his critically acclaimed tribute to Dean Martin as your stylish host, singing and joking along with the crowd and the staff in true Martin style, “cocktail” never far away. The leggy, beautiful showgirls and masculine male dancers are sharp, full of personality and very well-choreographed by Todd Patrick who has an amazing pedigree in show business credits. Their costuming is outstanding as well with the sequins and dazzle you expect from Vegas.

World class illusion and magic is presented by Michael Boyd, a finalist in the 2013 version of Australia’s Got Talent and also the mastermind behind earlier shows Cabaret de Paris and Mystique. Boyd keeps the audience intrigued with a clever mix of comedy, mystery and an engaging personality.

Romano Frediani, who hails from Nevada USA, is a juggler of supreme skill, with a very athletic take on juggling that left the audience gasping and clapping for more. As if that isn’t enough we then get the talented Dean Vegas giving us the incomparable Elvis, a name synonymous with Vegas for many years. His presentation of “The King” had the audience in the palm of his hand. It was great to hear a live band utilised as well.

All in all this is a very entertaining show which has something for everyone, from the very young to the very young at heart (us oldies). Michael Boyd’s vision of Vegas does the Gold Coast proud and let’s hope he comes to Jupiter’s often in the future. I'll definitely be back to enjoy another of his shows. Congratulations Michael Boyd.

The show ends on June 1.
