Wicked stage musical is back

Melbourne season begins in May

Then it is off to Sydney

MELBOURNE audiences are gearing up for the return of the highly successful stage musical `Wicked’ from May 7.

Demand for tickets paved the way for the return of the award-winning show at the Regent Theatre.

Australian Co-Producer John Frost said that after its Melbourne season Wicked would head north for its Sydney performances which begin at the Capitol Theatre on September 20.

The Australian production of Wicked stars Lucy Durack in the role of Glinda and Jemma Rix as Elphaba.

Steve Danielsen as Fiyero is playing his first leading role in a musical, alongside television and stage great, Maggie Kirkpatrick who returns as Madame Morrible. Newcomer Emily Cascarino plays Nessarose and Edward Grey is Boq.

For those who have not yet been bewitched by the production, Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.
Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the good witch.
