Innovative Four Kinsmen set `MO' winners record

On With the Show's

Flashback to 1994

THE Four Kinsmen are very much the quiet achievers when it comes to winning awards. They are believed to hold a record for `MO' Award wins, having amassed 19 of the prestigious statuettes in the 19-year history of the awards.

The wins include their most recent at this year's Australian Entertainment `MO' Awards held at Her Majesty's Theatre in Sydney where they won two of the three categories in which they were nominated, namely, Peter Allen Variety Performers of the Year and Variety Group of the Year.

The Umbilical Brothers pipped them at the post in their third nomination for Best Comedy Group - a category in which they appeared for the first time and one which represented a new awareness of what The Four Kinsmen are presenting on stage today.

It is evident by their ever-changing repertoire, that the Four Kinsmen are not about to stand still where their performance is concerned. And, it is interesting to note that many of the most popular aspects of their show have been inspired from life itself but given a touch of that Kinsmen magic which turns it into a `winner' on stage.

Sell Out Tour

Recent sell-out tours through Victoria and NSW confirm their popularity with audiences of all ages. Currently `packing them in' at the Stepping Out Restaurant in Penrith, The Four Kinsmen's show represents `variety' at its very best.

Audiences in the west must certainly agree for what started out as a Saturday only `gig' has turned into Friday and Saturday due to the demand for tickets to their show.

Each member of The Four Kinsmen, which includes Scott Radburn, George Harvey, Graham Wilson and Robert Pearson, are totally involved in the show, from making the sets and props to fully choreographed dance numbers and specially written harmonies, for which they are becoming renowned.

Perhaps the essence of their success on stage comes from their ability to be innovative and `keep up with the times'.

Everyone sits up and takes notice

When the Kinsmen are performing, everyone sits up and takes notice - whether it be laughing hysterically at their on-stage antics, looking in wonderment at their newly introduced illusions or simply enjoying the incredible four-part harmonies these professional entertainers present.

One would hope the same magic which captures each of their audiences will some day launch them on the international scene in a big way - a place where they most assuredly belong.
