Sell out concerts
Special celebrity report by Dee Donavan
Tour: Some Enchanted Evening
THE 5-day country NSW tour was extremely successful and we played to sold out venues. The orchestra under the direction of John Martin was superb. It was nice to have the opportunity of using my frontline parts. From my work in Europe I carry 15 piece arrangements so it was nice to be able to dig them out again! The show included popular opera favourites, memorable songs from musicals such as West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, as well as classic songs from the 70s and 80s.
It was a happy show as everyone in the company got on well. Marina Prior & David Hobson were a delight to work with. Very natural and engaging! They made a point of meeting and greeting the customers in the foyer after each show which I thought was rather nice.
Everyone travelled by road and it got colder and colder as we hit Orange & Dubbo. Accommodation was first class and all meals were provided. I must say that Australian Global Entertainment did a first-class job in setting up this tour. The producer Rosemary Schofield was personally on hand to make sure that everything went smoothly! The venues were outstanding and everywhere we experienced staff that were helpful and friendly!
If I were to pick one venue that stood out from the rest it would be the Dubbo Regional Theatre Convention Centre. Alan Youngston, the Manager there, does a great job in running a tight ship.
It is nice to know that good music presented well can still draw crowds and pack theatres and convention centres. The standing ovations that followed each show said it all!
There are those who say that variety entertainment is dead! What a load of poppycock! Variety entertainment is very much alive and living at Regional Centres throughout NSW and other States across Australia and when produced and presented correctly will continue to pack ‘em in! That I am sure of!Tweet
