Flashback to Variety Today 1992

Dear Shirley,

I must congratulate you on VARIETY TODAY. In so many ways variety seems to have been relegated to the back bench of show business in recent years but your magazine is helping bring it to the forefront again. It is important for performers to have this kind of means of communication and there's been nothing since Encore went `arty'.

Your generous recognition of the support you have received from members of our profession is, I am sure, much appreciated by everybody. I want you to know, however, we all owe you more than you owe us for your unstinting support and promotion of the Australian variety industry. Goodluck with the magazine.
